Maryland's Education Tech Companies Result in Improvements in Education Technology

What is Ed Tech? The bold, innovative concept of Educational Technology Education has been around for decades. The industry has unfortunately been through some troubled times in recent history, however with today’s crisis in American higher education, there’s renewed hope and investment in this cutting edge educational technology. The field is growing and changing at an exponential rate as students and teachers alike embrace newer methods of teaching and learning. What does this mean to education? It means many new opportunities for teachers and students alike.

New materials and programs are constantly being developed to help educators get the most out of the students. Students are always being tested and presented with new tests and new ways to learn and enhance their knowledge and skills. With all these different elements, it can be overwhelming for teachers. That’s where ed tech research comes in. It brings the latest materials and techniques to bear for today’s educator.

One such ed tech research center is the University of Florida’s College of Education Technology. In partnership with the University of Florida, Slavin Associates developed the GIS Education Solutions Lab. This center helps to design and develop educational technologies that will work for today’s students and for tomorrow’s student populations. Among the research center’s current projects are those that look at how technology can be used in the public school system and what kinds of curricula and instruction would inspire students and help them develop a love for technology and learning.

Another research center that uses education technology to create products effectiveness is the William D. Fordham Center for Computer Communication. They have created a virtual lab called the Center for Future Knowledge which allows teachers to explore new ways to use e-learning materials. Teachers can use the center’s online forum to discuss new curriculum areas. They can also ask questions from other educators on all kinds of subjects including e-learning, technology, and social studies. The center also hosts a virtual “get together” from time to bring people together to explore these topics in more detail.

The University of Maryland – College Park has developed a program called the Digital Learning Initiative. This initiative includes several components which help create a positive image for ed tech companies in the eyes of consumers. One component of the program is the university’s own testing and evaluation center which allows educators to collect data on the performance of ed tech products. Data collection on the digital learning technologies used in the program helps to determine whether or not they are achieving success in using these technologies to teach students.

An organization known as the JCPTA or just Johns Center for Public Technology Transfer has several members who are involved in the education industry. These include some of the most prominent people in the country who have worked in various areas of the computer industry. Among those who have worked in the computer industry include Robert Kaplan, Wendy Lewis, Allen Montgomery, Roger Cook, Jerry Silverman, and Fred Williams. These educators have developed curriculum applications for both public and private educational institutions that include several advanced technologies in them such as web based training, Microsoft Office products, the Information Age, and the E-Learning revolution.

These educators work closely with several Maryland school districts which have included online learning as a part of their school system. In a number of cases, the state of Maryland has been able to lower the rate at which it loses students to school closures by implementing the programs that these educators have put into place. At the same time, these programs have helped to increase the pass rates of students who are attending traditional schools. In some cases this has even led to increased enrollment which means more teachers and educational technology products being placed back into classrooms where they belong. In fact, when the state approved a new program that would increase the number of online courses that could be taken by high school students there was an increased demand for these products and services and so more people were able to get quality training.

The Maryland school system is also benefitted by the ed-tech companies that make teaching tools and educational content available online. The state is able to save money in a number of ways including its investment in the educational technology programs of these companies which allow for a greater focus on the education of students. In addition to this, Maryland is able to lower its rate of classroom overcrowding thanks to the programs of these companies. All of these efforts to improve the educational system have been put together thanks to the hard work and dedication of the educators and administrators of the state of Maryland.
